Interior Design |
| Your home is your haven from the world,
and you want to make it your own little niche in which to
live comfortably and reflect who you are. It doesn’t have to
cost a lot of money to spruce up the interior of your home.
A little paint goes a long way in changing the look and feel
of a room. Pillows can add color and comfort, and a few
family pictures will make your house a home. If you want to
add personality to your décor, go to flea markets and garage
sales and look for antique or “retro” furniture, or even
better, check out your parent’s or grandparent’s attic or
garage. Many chain stores carry great bedding and
accessories for a reasonable cost. Don’t be afraid to
experiment with color and texture. Make your home a part of
you. |

Sponge Painting
Sponge painting usually involves 2 colors,
one is your base coat, which may be your existing wall
color. Note: Your existing wall color may be used as a base
only if it has an eggshell, satin, or semi-gloss sheen. |
Choosing A Color
The decorating trend has moved away from all
white walls to adding color to our homes. Color is a great
idea, but it’s not always easy to choose. You can bring
paint chips home, but take it from me; even that does not
always ensure you have chosen the correct color. |
Faux Painting Technique
Faux painting is a
relatively easy technique you can do yourself. It uses a
base coat with glaze colors applied over it. Your base coat
may be your existing wall color, or you may choose to apply
a new base coat. |
Stripping Furniture
Stripping product can be flammable. Avoid methylene
chloride if you are pregnant, or have heart or
lung problems. Use a water-base stripper if
possible. |
